At West Seattle Nursery, we’re dedicated to growing more than just plants, we’re growing community connections! This season, we’re proud to support two incredible local organizations: Solid Ground and West Seattle Food Bank.

Solid Grounds Fundraiser

From now until Christmas, we are raising money for Solid Ground. For over 50 years, this organization has worked toward ending poverty through:

  • Advocacy

  • Food Access & Education

  • Housing and Homeless Prevention

  • Race & Social Justice

  • Resource Connections

  • Transportation

As gardeners, we are particularly interested in the work they are doing at the Marra Farm Giving Garden. They began this 3/4 acre garden in 1997. In 2024, they supplied more than 5,000 pounds of fresh produce to food banks and meal programs. We imagine that the total was much more this year because they just installed a drip irrigation system.

Farmer Scott has an update on what happened in the garden this past summer. They are growing more than food there, they are building community, and educating kids.

Please consider making a donation to Solid Ground when you shop between now and Christmas. The nursery will match the first $1,000 of donations collected.

We will submit our donation to Solid Ground before December 31, so it can be doubled!

Support West Seattle Food Bank

We’re proud to partner with West Seattle Food Bank to help fight hunger in our community! You can make a difference by dropping off food donations in the bin next to the Garden Center doors by the parking lot at West Seattle Nursery.

Most-needed items include:

  • Pop-top soup and pasta

  • Milk and 100% juice boxes

  • Cereal and oatmeal cups

  • Nut butters

  • Kid-sized snacks

  • Tuna and chicken snack packs

  • Mac & cheese cups

Every donation, big or small, helps ensure no one in our neighborhood goes hungry. Thank you for supporting this vital cause!
