A Rare Wollemi Pine, Up for Auction

We’re delighted to offer a beautiful Wollemia nobilis (Wollemi pine) at West Seattle Nursery.

This remarkable tree is considered critically endangered in the wild, and it’s legally protected in Australia, where it was discovered. Thankfully, growers learned that Wollemi pines can be successfully cloned, and since then, new trees have been planted in mild-climate regions around the world, helping secure the species’ future.

We’ve offered these pines before, and most have gone to the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in Tacoma. This time, we’re holding an auction, and it’s for a good cause: every dollar of the winning bid above $2,000 will be donated to Solid Ground. Even better, an anonymous donor is matching donations made to Solid Ground before the end of the year, so every dollar given will be doubled!

To place a bid, please email info@westseattlenursery.com with your full name, phone number, and bid amount. The auction closes on January 2nd, 2027, and the highest bid wins. The current bid is listed below.

Thank you for taking part, and happy holidays!
